Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG CNG: What Cab Drivers Should Check
· 4 min read · Team Everest

A simple guide to the new XUV 3XO ZNG CNG and the checks a cab driver should make before booking one.
Mahindra’s XUV 3XO ZNG CNG is now open for bookings from 20 October 2026. If you drive a cab or plan to buy a car for app work, the useful points are the CNG running option, the manual gearbox, the boot space, and the final on-road cost in your city.
What has changed
Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO ZNG on 15 October 2026 as its first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle. The company announced a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Autocar India reported that bookings and deliveries start on 20 October 2026.
This is a factory CNG version of the XUV 3XO. It is not an aftermarket CNG fitment. Mahindra says the car uses a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with CNG, and the same 82 kW power and 200 Nm torque are available in petrol and CNG modes.
For a cab driver, the main change is choice. The XUV 3XO range already has petrol, diesel and electric versions, according to Autocar India. The ZNG adds a CNG option for people who want CNG but also want an SUV body style.
Key figures to know before you compare
Mahindra says the certified efficiency is 24.7 km per kg of CNG. Treat this as a certified figure, not your guaranteed daily mileage. In real city duty, mileage can change with traffic, AC use, load, driving style and waiting time.
Autocar India listed four ZNG variants. The MX Edge is ₹9.99 lakh, the RevX Edge (O) is ₹10.79 lakh, the AX5 is ₹11.19 lakh, and the RevX A is ₹12.27 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices, so you still have to check road tax, insurance, registration, accessories, finance cost, and any commercial permit cost in your city.
The gearbox is important for drivers. Autocar India reported that the XUV 3XO ZNG comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. If you prefer an automatic for long city hours, check this point carefully before booking.
Mahindra says the system can switch to petrol when CNG runs low. That is useful on late-night trips or airport drops when a nearby CNG pump is not available. Still, you should not plan a long shift with very low petrol in the tank.
Space and daily cab use
CNG cars often lose boot space because of the cylinder. Mahindra says the XUV 3XO ZNG uses twin cylinders placed under the luggage area. The company says this gives a flat loading floor and 270 litres of usable boot space, with the spare wheel mounted under the body.
For daily cab work, this space point matters. You may carry airport bags, office bags, shopping bags, or family luggage. Before booking, visit a showroom with two medium suitcases or the type of luggage your passengers often carry, and check if loading is easy for you.
The rear seat also matters. Mahindra says even the entry variant gets rear AC vents and a 60:40 split rear seat. If you drive in hot cities, rear AC vents can help passenger comfort, but you should still sit in the rear yourself and check legroom, headroom and seat angle.
CarDekho reported that the XUV 3XO ZNG has real-time fuel-efficiency displays for petrol and CNG. This can help you watch consumption during a shift. Use it as a guide, but calculate your own cost per kilometre after a few full tanks.
What a driver should do before booking
First, compare total monthly cost, not only the ex-showroom price. Ask the dealer for the full on-road price of the exact variant. Then add your expected CNG use, petrol use, insurance, servicing, tyres, parking, loan EMI if any, and permit-related cost if the car will be used commercially.
Second, check app and city requirements before paying any booking amount. Ask your platform or fleet office whether this model and variant can be attached for the category you want to drive in. Also check whether your RTO process needs any extra step for commercial registration of a CNG passenger car.
Third, take a proper test drive in traffic. The official figures show strong torque and certified efficiency, but your daily work is stop-go driving, U-turns, flyovers, pickups and waiting. Drive with AC on and check clutch effort, visibility, turning ease, seat comfort and phone mounting space.
Fourth, check CNG pump access on your usual route. A CNG car saves time only when refuelling is easy. If your work area has long pump queues, note the waiting time during morning, afternoon and night shifts before deciding.
The XUV 3XO ZNG gives drivers one more factory CNG SUV option, but the right choice depends on your city, duty hours, luggage needs and monthly cost. If you want to drive without buying a car, Everest Fleet is one place where drivers can ask for a car.
